Pavilion building on Patriarch's Ponds to preserve its historic appearance

22 May 2020

The Kievskaya Ploshchad Group of Companies is once again confirming that only repair work is being carried out on the site of the Pavilion on Patriarch's Ponds. Rumours about changes to the external appearance of the Pavilion are not true. The current works do not involve reconstruction, building an add-on section or any other changes to the exterior of the building.

The Pavilion building on Patriarch's Ponds has been owned by the Kievskaya Ploshchad Group of Companies since 2019. Following completion of repair work to the Pavilion building, a new restaurant is planned to open. As such, the functional component of the architectural site will also be preserved.

Throughout this time, rumours about its intentions to make changes to the external appearance of the building have been repeatedly denied by the company. There are suspicions about a planned information attack in which concerned Muscovites are misled into becoming involved by hostile parties. The intentional way public opinion is being manipulated is evidenced by petitions signed on the basis of information that is simply not true. The company publishes real renderings showing the image of the renovated building on its official website.

Kievskaya Ploshchad has a wealth of experience in dealing with historical heritage, examples of which are the projects it has completed to restore the architectural ensemble of the Miussky tram depot and Ukraina Hotel, recognised as the best in their field. This experience, which is largely unique, will also be applied to work on the Pavilion, which is not a historical monument but has undoubted value for Patriarch's Ponds.
