On the eve of the beginning of the new school year, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kievskaya Ploshchad Group of Companies, God Nisanov, has taken part in the opening of the new sports complex of the St Petersburg University of Maritime Technology.

The new sports complex houses a 25-metre-long swimming pool and volleyball court with professional floor covering, special lighting and modern equipment certified by the International Volleyball Association. The volleyball court can seat up to 2000 spectators. Part of the stands have a telescopic mechanism that allows them to fold up and increase the functional space, which makes it possible to hold not just sporting events, but various lectures and workshops as well. There are 5 swimming lanes in the sports complex pool, while the stands can accommodate up to 300 spectators.

As part of the modernisation of the training areas, the asphalt covering the road leading to the sports complex building has been updated, and autonomous boiler rooms and transformer buildings have been constructed. The attached recreation area was also improved during the project, with the installation of new benches and better landscaping.

God Nisanov and Zarakh Iliev are the patrons of the University sports complex’s renovation. In 2019, a ceremony was held to lay a symbolic capsule in the foundations of the new sports complex.

God Nisanov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kievskaya Ploshchad Group of Companies:

"We are opening a new sports complex in the famous "Korabelka". We have managed to meet the promised deadlines and launch the facility by the beginning of the school year, despite the pandemic, and we are proud to be able to help improve your learning and leisure environment.

"The sports complex meets the high standards of modern sports infrastructure. It contains a swimming pool and professional-standard volleyball arena.

"All the equipment in the volleyball arena is certified by the International Volleyball Federation, and it can accommodate 2000 spectators. In addition, the seating here is not straightforward, but telescopic, and allows not just sporting events to be held, but various lectures and workshops as well."
